Under the Weather and a Clinic Visit

Clinic-1

Last Wednesday I got a call from Ana asking me to pick up Penny. She had a fever and was very fussy. When I got to her, the first thing she asked for was "Calliou?" :).  She couldn't be that sick, right?

She ran a low fever for the rest of that day and I stayed home with her on Thursday. By that evening she seemed like her old self and had been fever free for 24 hours. Friday we took her back to Ana's and boy was she glad to be back.

But Saturday night, at around midnight our poor girl woke up crying which is very unusual, and did not want to go back down. She had gunky eyes and I was convinced she had pink eye. She was the last kid at daycare to become ill, they all had one sickness or another. One little guy even had Hand, Foot and Mouth disease, but no one had pink eye. So an appointment at the After Hours clinic across the street was made for Saturday afternoon.

When Penny work up that morning she was gunk free and seemed just fine, but I still wanted to get her checked out. We obviously stayed home from Tumbling but she burned that energy by running around the apartment, literally bouncing off some of the walls.

The visit at the clinic was quite successful. Minimal crying - she even let the Doctor listen to her chest and look in her ears without any tears, and they were both clear. She gave us drops for Penny's eyes, just in case, but felt that unless the goopy comes back she is fine.

Clinic-2

As a precautionary measure I tried to administer the drops. Is there anything more difficult that trying to put eye drops in a kids eyes when they don't want it? Even if I could get her to lay still long enough to aim properly, her eyes were shut so tight, nothing was getting in. So hopefully she remains goop-free and all will be well again. Just chalk it up to another Sickie Adventure.
