This month just flew by and I hope I was able to jot down everything new this kid is doing - it's hard to keep up ;)
Penny now understands the concept of shopping. And although this video might seem inconclusive, we think she likes it:

Loves her lollipops:

And her kitties too.
Everyone has boobies. "Cade boobies", "Ana bobbies". "Mimi boobies". Could it have something to do with this?
Puppy (the PAX names didn't stick, which is actually fine by us) has now joined the crib crew. It's so sweet, she has Boo under one arm, Roh-jay under the other and Puppy in the middle. The she rolls over on them, scoots her knees up and goes to sleep on her stomach, with her buddies underneath.
We are now brushing her teeth on Doggy Big Guy instead of the couch. A change of scenery is good, plus he's pretty darn comfy. She sings the "Nina, Nina Doh" song with us while Gabe brushes, now with minimal, if any tears.
She also sometimes sings our "Group Hug" song with us before bedtime… "Boop buh, boop buh", etc. So sweet.
S's are "shh" sounds- "appie shaush" (sometimes it's "apple", too) ,"shi re al. Dada's shi re al" (Dada's cereal, she's loves those Wheatabix with a little brown sugar). "Shit" (sit).
She's mastered the shape sorter, like a pro. I feel like she may have done so a couple of months ago but I was pretty impressed watching her.

Penelope knows "hot" and will say it about her food (9 out of 10 times it is not hot).
She also says it about the kitchen floor that gets sun from the skylight. "Hot, hot."
She'll stop before she walks across it:

Then she'll try to walk around it:

And then realize it's ok to walk over it:

She loves to hide, especially behind her highchair, or the back of the couch.

She also likes to go into a room - her room, the video game room, Gabe's bathroom, and close the door with her in it. She waits a few seconds and then comes out, runs back to us, giggles and then does it again. She'll even do this at night, when those rooms, especially the bathroom, get really dark. She's not scared.
Penny knows "up". Either out of her car seat, or highchair.
Likes to sit on a "lap". We'll watch TV or read that way. It's very sweet and I hope she continues to request it. "Lap, lap?"
She also has taken to sitting with one of us (me before naps, Gabe before bedtime) in the rocker in her room. This is the best - she lays on us and it's just a few quite moments of closeness with our beauty.
Penny can count to 4!
She knows the colors red, blue and pink.
She now says her name, mostly while looking in the mirror. We point and say "Who's that?" and she answers "Pet-tee". Sometimes an "n" sound sneaks in, too ;)
A few funny incidents to note down, too:
• I was trying to get us up the stairs after returning home from Ana's and work. This particular afternoon Penny wanted to stay and play with the buckles on her stroller that we keep by the garage door. I said to her "Come on bubs, Mommy needs to make a pee pee", and she responded with a big old "By-eee!".
• She threw her milk cup one evening and it hit me in the chin. We are trying to not only to teach her not to throw, but also the concept of apologizing. I said "Penny, I always say I'm sorry if I accidentally hurt you." (if I snag her hair while combing, for instance, or accidentally scratch her while getting out of the car seat). So I asked her, "So what do you say when you accidentally hurt someone and you didn't mean too?" Her response… "you're welcome".
This kid!
