Well You Did It

When I was little we had rubber bands on the kitchen cabinets to keep me from getting in. I would pull the handles and look at my parents to see if they were watching. They would of course say "don't do that" and I would continue until I got my hand in and then let go. Well the rubber band would snap, and my hand would get caught, and it would hurt and I would cry. And they would say "well you did it!".

We had our first "well you did it" moment with Penny this evening. I have been asking her to not open the cabinet that we put our recyclables in because the knob sits very close to the oven and she'll get her fingers caught.

Well-You-Did-It

Like mother, like daughter, she had to find out for herself. She got her little fingers pinched. Poor girl, but of course I had to say… "Well you did it!" And then I kissed her fingers and gave her a hug. Hopefully she'll remember and not do it again, but if little-girl me is any indication, we may have some more "well you did it" moments.
