Penny and Murphy
Denby and Murphy came over on Sunday to watch the World Cup game. The kiddies played together pretty well. There was a bit of grabbing on Penny's part in the beginning. She's not used to someone else playing with her toys. But she got the hang of it pretty quickly. Dare I say she was even sharing :).

I promise Murphy was having a better time than he is portraying here :).[/caption]

These kid are growing up so fast!

The Many "Faces" of Penny: iPhoto Edition
iPhoto lets you tag people in the "Faces" section. So when I clicked out of curiosity, this came up:
A random selection of faces from all the photos on my computer. I clicked "Show more faces" and got these:

I think we can tell who most of my photos are of.

Wait, there's Gabe!
And here's me :)

It was fun to be shown random photos, some dating way back. I'll have to get all my pictures in iPhoto so I can get even older ones thrown in the mix for a real trip down memory lane.

Dentist Visit
Penny had her second visit to the dentist on Tuesday. Monday evening we showed her pictures from her first visit, reminding her of all the toys they have there as well as Gretchen and Sonic, the 2 office puppies. Our hope was that we could associate going to the dentist with the fun things and not the things she wasn't so happy with :).
Waiting for Reme, the hygienist:

Silly mirror faces:

Reme arrived and wanted to put vaseline on Penny's lips. Yeah, not so much. This was after she climbed up me to get away from that cotton swab:

I got her seated again and she tearfully allowed Reme to put some on her leg:

And the her lips:

Yay!

Then it was time to apply the purple solution that they use to show the tartar. This was a little easier, I mentioned "Dora's Purple Planet" and that helped ease the process a bit.
Reme showing Penny by drawing a heart on her glove:

She applied it to my nail and then Penny's (dentist and a manicure!):

On the teeth and then wiped off:

Then it was time to brush. Reme used Penny's new Jake and the Neverland Pirates toothbrush that she picked out herself. We sang our "Nina Nina Doh" song which really helped - no tears!

She even let Reme polish her teeth - her first official cleaning! She chose the chocolate flavor. Yum :).

Then Dr. Yu came in and showed Penny her tools:

She counted Penny's teeth - a full mouth of 20!

She also got her first fluoride treatment:

All in all Miss Penelope did extremely well. After the few initial tears, she was a perfect patient. Even waving and saying hi to Reme as she worked on her. Our good girl, so sweet!
We found out that no more bottle and pacifier have made a difference with her bite and that we (really Gabe) are brushing her teeth quite well. We can also start using a teeny (rice-sized) bit of fluoride toothpaste. I'll look into getting chocolate-flavored :).

Pasta Necklaces
On Monday evening Penny and I made pasta necklaces. What could be more simple.
The supplies:

I wrapped tape around the end of the yarn so it was easier for Penny to thread through the rigatoni.

She enjoyed it for a while, but then decided it would be fun to dump out the bowl and place the pasta back in.

She did this over and over, while singing The Clean Up Song that Ana sings to the kids after playtime:

I think it's a nice addition to Penny's accessory collection.

Merida
Penny has been asking every morning for Merida. She decided it is her favorite shirt, and once it is out of the laundry, it's on her.

Once she grows out of it, we will have retired the onsies, as this is the last one she wears. Hopefully it will fit for some time though. I don't think Penny wants to say goodbye to Merida.

New Headband
Car Seat Switcharoo
A couple of weekends ago, we switched Penny's car seat from facing backwards:

Just a little cramped.[/caption]
to facing front:

We took a ride to give Penny the full experience.
Windows open, so much to see!

Look at all that legroom!

Frozen yogurt was our destination:

This is now my view while driving (I was parked in our driveway for this pic):

Now the challenge is getting her into the seat. Because she is facing front she sees all those bells and whistles on the dashboard. She's lifted in the car and immediately scrambling over to the front seats. The mayhem below was captured by Gabe while trying to get Penny into her seat to go to tumbling. I did get a call about 10 or so minutes later asking if I could come down to the garage to help. Quite often it is a 2 person job. Get her in and buckle fast!

Oh well, we got ourselves one curious kiddo!
